It is so rewarding and feels so good when kids are engaged and learning is fun! I still feel the powers-that-be should let teachers do their creative thing instead of telling us what projects to teach. It still makes me crazy to hear people say that teachers should teach gardening, manners, how to balance a check book, and how to do their taxes. They have obviously not seen the list of state standards we are required to teach, document, test, reteach, and retest. There just were not enough hours in the day. Now, I am going to sit by the ocean and be thankful for a teaching career I loved but am so glad to be retired from. Thanks for sharing your stories!!
My feeling is that it would have been better to offer some suggestions to those who had no clue. Unfortunately, many of those suggestions would have been coming from the clueless themselves.
EVERYBODY had a good idea about how to spend OUR limited time.
Luckily most really good teachers could figure out how to get around what they had been told to do in order to get to what they ought to be doing.
